RECONSTRUCTION - HONOR AWARD

"Pomona Colleges Bridges Hall of Music Remodel and Addition"

Claremont Environmental Design Group, Inc.

In 1914, Myron Hunt designed a music hall for Pomona College. We restored and renovated this masterpiece to accommodate the functional needs of a premier recording venue, which in turn necessitated the technical and programmatic changes of almost a century of innovation. A custom designed organ, which cost over a million dollars, precipitated this 4 million dollar renovation, thus making the building’s acoustic performance a top priority along with its historic qualities. We accomplished this in such a way that the rejuvenated hall impressed and pleased the discerning music faculty and recording artists as well as venerable alumni who knew the original hall.
